Jitokeze Wamama Wafrika serves the households of marginalized women and girls who are most vulnerable to the impacts of droughts and conflicts induced by climate change. Majority of these people live in the lowland areas of West Pokot County and experience great obstacles in securing access to food, water, income and peace which they need in order to live full lives.
The women of West Pokot are the Pillars of their homes and their community. They are beautiful and strong; they are faithful in nurturing people, relationships and in stewardship of natural resources. They have diverse capabilities, and amazing potential, which currently remains unexplored due to a myriad of challenging social, economic, cultural and environmental circumstances that they battle with everyday.
Jitokeze Wamama Wafrika seeks to build these womens capacities to access resources such as income, credit, markets, agricultural inputs and training, as well as the social support they need to break free from the chains of poverty and vulnerability to droughts and conflicts. We build their capacities so that they in turn can build the capacities of their families and communities by providing for their needs and by sustainably managing resources
